HEROZ collects as little as it can to run the game.

On your device

Your settings, key bindings, player name, level, hero mastery, rating, coins, the looks you own, your daily challenges and your recent matches are saved in your browser's local storage, with a random secret key that identifies you to our server. Clearing your browser data removes them.

When you play online

To find you a match, your browser connects to our game server and sends your player name, chosen hero, mastery and rating. Your browser also sends your secret key and the looks you wear. The server turns the key into a random player ID and keeps a profile under it: player name, rating and your last online matches (placing, hero, items and talents). The leaderboard and profiles are public. Like any website, our hosting providers (Vercel for the site, Cloudflare for the game server) process technical data such as your IP address to deliver the service.

Chat

Chat messages are sent to the other players in your match. They are filtered for rude words, links and contact details, and are not stored. You can mute anyone, or turn chat off in the menu.

If you sign in with Google

Sign-in is handled by Clerk. We receive your account ID and your user or first name, which becomes your player name. We do not receive your Google password. See Clerk's and Google's privacy policies for how they handle your data.

Ads

On heroz.io there are no ad networks and no ad trackers yet: the spaces where ads will go show a labelled placeholder. When ads arrive, this page will say which network and what it receives, and players under 13 will not see personalised ads. On game portals such as Poki and CrazyGames, the portal shows its own ads under its own privacy policy.

What we don't do

No selling of data, no session recorders.

Your choices

You can play as a guest without an account. To have your leaderboard entry or account data removed, email hello@heroz.io.
